Greeting:
Welcome aboard, matey's! This is the webpage for The Pirate Joe Radio Show. I'm working on getting a crew to man this vessel and hope to offer some entertainment for all who can't listen to my show on Fridays from 7-9AM Central Time. For those who can listen to my show, hopefully there's something here to supplement your enjoyment of my regular broadcasting.
Explanation:
In this website, there will be plenty to see and do, largely based around the crew of The Pirate Joe Radio Show. It will include things we like or are excited about, blog entries, bios, and whatever else we can think of on a daily basis. Come back and see how the page grows as the show grows!
The Crew:
Many of you may not know who the crew of The (award winning) Pirate Joe Radio Show are. This section is here to introduce the characters and support for the show.
First and foremost is the captain (or The Cap'm) of this vessel, Pirate Joe. The Pirate Joe Radio Show started in October 2007 on The U as an outlet and dream fulfillment of Pirate Joe. Despite its early time slot and lack of an extended FM radio signal, The Pirate Joe Radio Show grew in the hearts of listeners (and sometimes those too lazy to get up and listen) as well as in the heart of Pirate Joe and his crew. Within a few short months, Pirate Joe was able to hone his radio skills, secure guests on his show, and expand his music library to attract not just more listeners, but more interested listeners. Pirate Joe experimented with different formats and even tried making adjustments for times when he could not be on the air. As such, the show is, and has been since its conception, a work in progress. Pirate Joe decided that a pirate out in the vast expanses of sea called the internet can often begin to succumb to a slow painful insanity. To bring coherence back to his on air ramblings, Pirate Joe brought fourth a crew member to attempt to pull the show back from the fringes. This was a failed experiment, as Drunkard Ryan was not any more in touch with reality than Pirate Joe, but it began an evolution in the direction Pirate Joe began steer his ship.
So enters the most the first mate of the show. Viking Christopher joined us to share his expertise on certain subjects. It was at this juncture that Pirate Joe realized that he need not take his ship into more densely populated waters as much as he needs to find a crew to brave the waters Joe was most comfortable in. Viking Christopher was just this kind of man. The Viking is bringing many talents to the show. Viking Christopher is the classic definition of a rennisance man. He is a man of action and is a fighter able to contend with combatants of all skill levels. He has spent considerable time in the scholarly realm and brings from it a knowledge of linguistics and an appetite for all that can be known. He has a deep musical background that contributes to his impeccable musical taste. He also dominates social interaction with his argumentative skills sharpened with the same care he takes when sharpening his sword. None of these have drawn him away from his experiences in the wilderness that have molded him into a fine outdoorsman.
With a visionary at the helm and a first mate grounded in the world, one may wonder what more The Pirate Joe Radio Show needs. At last we have the long awaited entry of Drunkard Ryan! "So," one may be inclined to say, "Drunkard Ryan is there to do the grunt work, right?" Wrong! Drunkard Ryan has an ability to relate to groups that Pirate Joe and Viking Christopher may be inclined to plow through to continue their current course. This is not to say that Drunkard Ryan is one full of compassion or that he is in some way charitable or benevolent. Quite the opposite. Drunkard Ryan's thirst for... "debauchery" leads him to a niche that is not subsumed in the personalities of his Pirate and Viking friends.
What bonds these three is a shared love of things that are geeky in some way or another. We have opinions on table top games, video games, computers, the internet, and a ton of other things. What you should be able to expect from us is for us to scour the internet for the best of the stuff on it so you don't have to.
